On Monday, February 15, Marist-Sion College welcomed seven visiting Bavarian Exchange students. They are Stefanie Bundschuh, Johanna Wemöner, Maximilian Kraus, Amelie Kozica, Lea Rieck, Stine Augustin and Lena Silbernagl. The students will immerse themselves into school life and our way of life and culture for ten weeks.

These students are seven of fifty teenagers currently visiting Victoria. Students are scattered all over Victoria where German is part of the school curriculum.

The Association of German Teachers of Victoria Inc. [AGTV] has coordinated the Bayerischer Jugendring [BJR] student exchange program in Victoria since 1988. Over 1200 Victorian students, families and schools have participated in this ten week reciprocal exchange program with Bavarian families in Germany over the past 25 years.

Marist-Sion College has supported this exchange since 2000 and has had over 100 students experience Christmas, New Year and school directly in Germany.

This program is a reciprocal program. Applicants are matched according to interests, personality and gender. The German exchange partner stays with the Victorian host family for ten weeks from mid-February. At the end of the year, the Victorian student travels to Germany and stays with the German host family.  This exchange offers Victorian students of German the opportunity to experience all facets of life in Germany, for a period of ten weeks. It is an opportunity of a life time.

Students currently learning German in Years 9 and 10 are eligible to apply for the 2017/2018 Exchange Program Expressions of Interest will be taken soon.  Further information can be found on the AGTV website or contact Mrs Birgit Eriksson.

We wish our visiting German students a wonderful time!
